My name is Itai Shapira, but my friends simply call me Shapira.

 

I have an extensive background in the fields of Defense and Intelligence. I am a Brigadier General in the Israeli Defense Intelligence (IDI) reserves, with three decades of practical experience. I served in intelligence analysis and management roles at the strategic, operational, and tactical levels, where I engaged in numerous interactions with decision-makers. I hold a PhD in Intelligence Studies, and I have published books and articles about national security strategy, intelligence, and culture.

I teach Intelligence Analysis at Johns Hopkins University, where I am currently part of MS in Intelligence Analysis Faculty; and I have taught Intelligence Studies courses in Tel Aviv University and in Reichman University.

I believe in bridges: between national security and business, between theory and practice.

And in recent years, I am applying this approach by practicing Defense and Intelligence work outside of the military. Intelligence and Geopolitics have never been more crucial for decision-making, in national security and in business.

For me, this is Strategic Intelligence.

Which starts with understanding cultures and terminology.

Which allows organizations to make sense of their environments, and then, to "Know Thyself".
